Family Tidbits in Cebu

Here is a write-up which was intended for March 8 yet, but because of the Win XP OS that would not open, I got discouraged. That time, I must also be on my low days which made me give up so easily. (Or any other reason to dampen my push for this blog? Hmmmm…) So I’ll post it here, though long overdue, okay?

Family Tidbits in Cebu

One thing we had looked forward to in our trip to Cebu was the fact that we would be once again with Jonjon, Lenlen, and Josh – the children of our eldest son, Jojo (Jj). He, at the time of our visit, also happened to have a break from his work in China (as “quality control engineer” of a watch company).

How time flies! Jon, who before was a toddler dotingly played around by the family being the eldest son, likewise the first “apo” for us, is now a fourth year ECE (electronics & communications engineering) stude, and Len, on her third year in college, is an aspiring computer engineer – both study at the Catholic university nearer their place. Little Josh, at six years old, is a Grade One pupil in a sectarian school run by sisters. Ahhh…angel Janjan could have been a 10-year-old little miss by now. The timing of our visit to coincide with the transfer of her remains was another thing to thank for, as we didn’t know about this before hand. God-timed, I could only conclude.

So those are our “contenders” for the next generation. We could not have much time together though, as during daytime, they would be out to school, while we would also be busy with our own business/agenda to tackle. On one Sunday only did we have time to spend together on that breezy place by the sea (click pics of the beautiful scenery) – and you know what that means: partaking of, among others, “sinugba” (grilled fish), lechon, cooked bananas and camote, etc. We didn’t go there for the swimming but for the eating! (ugh!) and having fun with the family of course. And that was enough treat for the day! :)

Before I end this, I’d like to share with you a family gift of the Lord which concerned Jj and Jon. This took us by surprise – nay a B I G miracle surprise! - and we can only praise and thank Him!

Upon Jj’s birth, as we were conferring about what to name him, De wanted to have a junior, but I’d like to honor St. Joseph (feast day: March 19) by naming the baby after him, though the birth date was February 8. To solve the issue, we came up with the name Edwin Joseph Jr. (The dad is Edwin). The “surprise” I mentioned above, which I referred to as our “family gift of the Lord”? When Jon was born, among the 365 days of the year, it fell on March 19 – the feast day of St. Joseph!!! This is a confirmation of my devotion to the “foster father of Jesus”! So now he is Edwin Joseph III – is this not the hand of our wonderful, awesome, unfathomable, incomprehensible, loving Heavenly Father? We can only thank God no end, for a manifestation of His presence. He is alive! All glory be to the Almighty God!!!

Thanks to Jojo, Dyndyn and “apo’s” for the hospitality extended to us during our Cebu visit, God bless your family!
