Our “Virgen Sang Barangay” in Prague

Last June 15, the Filipinos in Prague, and at that time we were part, were reminded of our hard-earned independence as we celebrated the Kalaayan 2008. For once, we paused and took time to pay respects and honor to our beloved heroes, the brave men who sacrificed much, even with blood and life, just to obtain for dear Motherland the much-sought-after freedom from foreign domination.

We thank God for this precious gift to the whole Filipino nation, as we pray that forever He will keep it for us, together with righteousness, justice and love. And prosperity as well (”..and all these things shall be added unto you”).

Unexpectedly, on our way home as we passed by inside the Church (no other passage from the reception garden), we saw our very own Virgen sang Barangay, in a picture frame.

This post then is a dedication to our Lady, “Virgen sang Barangay.” We express our gratitude to our beloved Mother Mary for her intercession, she being the patron saint of the Philippines, with her title as the Immaculate Conception. We implore for her continued prayers for us.

(I hope one of these days I can have her picture at the Infant Jesus Church and share it here.)
