Happy Feast Day, Mama Mary!

Today is the feast day of our Lady of the Holy Rosary, which brings the Rosary to a focus. For those who are not familiar, the Rosary is a popular devotional prayer for Catholics which is an offering, at the same time a petition, to the Blessed Mother, who is our greatest intercessor to her Son, Jesus.

I, for one, am a firm believer of this, as we have experienced her maternal protection in our family, which has been devoted to the Holy Rosary: “A family that prays together stays together”; And much, much more than that.

When praying the Rosary, one meditates the mysteries of our Lord Jesus’ life, reciting the Our Father after each mystery represented by a lone bead in between 10 beads which represent the 10 Hail Mary’s, in all 5 decades in one of the joyful, sorrowful, and glorious mysteries. Each of these mysteries is composed of fifty (50) Hail Mary’s and five (5) Our Father’s.

To quote from this site about the Hail Mary: “the most popular salutation was taken directly from the Gospel, from the episodes of the Annunciation and the Visitation, which everyone knows: ‘Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women’ (Luke 1:28).’Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb’ (Luke 1:42). These two salutations form the first part of the Ave Maria.” (Hail Mary).

  1. Yup! It’s Mama Mary’s month. My mom and I are praying the rosary daily. The Family Rosary Crusade’s “The family that prays together, stays together” plus the “a world of prayer is a world of peace” propagated by Fr. Patrick Peyton are the quotes I have grown with…May continuous blessings through her intercession come your way. God bless!!

  2. Vicky: It’s nice to hear you’re praying the rosary daily, you’re so blessed! Keep on! May same continuous blessings be yours too, and God bless you and your loved ones!

Thanks for your kind words, and for dropping by. You’re always welcome here :)
